“Back from Africa” is the third 12″ from the fine “Endangered Species” full length album by Nickodemus. The A side gives us the two album mixes of Back From Africa & Peace Pipe. Both have been favorites among DJ’s all over the globe.
Back from Africa is a festive African Dance Groove that was inspired by a trip to St. Louie, Senegal with Mino Cinelu’s band back in 2000. Peace Pipe features Jean Shepherd of the band Radio Mundial (Palm Pictures) on cuatro & vocals.
On the B-side, the Derek Sessions Remix of Back from Africa takes it a notch deeper into Afrobeat & deep dancefloor House. Derek Sessions has been a regular guest DJ at the Turntables on the Hudson parties since the beginning and has been spinning records with Nickodemus since the early 90′s. Anyone remember “Boogie Wonderland?” What about “Soul Food?” Big shouts to the old school- Eulas, Ivan, Eddy Plenty aka Disco Dynamite, Beatrice, Jen, Pete, Ed Hall, Tim, Howie & the whole crew!
