After a short hiatus from the vinyl world, Nickodemus’s Wonderwheel Recordings is BACK with a brand new 12 with exclusive remixes of two tracks taken from The Spy From Cairo’s album.
On the A-Side, Earthrise Soundsystem (aka Derek Beres and Duke Mushroom) show why they are quickly becoming one of the most in-demand remixers for international sounds, flipping “Jennaty” into a big band Balkan stomper complete with the soaring Middle Eastern vocals of Ghalia Benali.
Next up, working under his alter ego Zeb, the Spy from Cairo revisits the tune with a trip through the Arabic lands via 1980′s Miami and Detroit, turning “Jennaty” into a throwback electro track, perfect for late night sets.
On the flip, the UK’s Simbad, brings “Ana Arabai” straight for the dancefloor with his own mixture of house, broken beat and UK Funky and a deeeeeep dubby bassline. Also included is Simbad’s Dub.
