Coney Island Love is a series inspired by sights & sounds of the great Coney Island Amusement Park & Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. On this second 12" you'll hear four more cuts from the final mix CD under the same name. On the A side, Zimpala's "The Breeze is Black" (Bobby Hughes Experience Remix) has a Jazzy Brazilian Funk feel. The second cut, Julianese, by Alpha Bass, has a hard hitting beat with steady vocals & instrumentation that is very quick & to the point. (DJ's are encouraged to get 2 copies & make their own extended versions of this 2 minute track). Side B starts with a personal favorite by the dubmaster The Rootsman. Again, heavy dub beats and accordian with beautiful floating vocals by Rosapaeda. Lastly, Alpha Bass rounds off the 12" with a heavily layered instrumental, merging electronics & the instrumentation of the East.

about the artists

Zimpala/ Bobby Hughes Experience: Fred BNX, DJ + A&R in the group Zimpala, has been busy travelling the World spinning records & informing people about good music & wine. The group Zimpala, from Bordeaux, have 2 full length albums. "The Breeze is Black," from their album of the same name, gets the Bobby Hughes Experience Remix treatment. Anything with the names Bobby Hughes Experience & Zimpala will be a good listen & most likely a funky dancefloor filler.

Alpha Bass: One year after receiving a request from Mimmo Galizia, the main man behind the complex Italian group Alpha Bass, to sample Cleopatra in New York for his new album, Taratrance, I received the fruits of his labors. From start to finish, this album excites the mind body & soul. Many of the tracks have the roots and instrumentation of Southern Italian Gypsy folk music. Mix that with tight beats & heavy dub and you have a truly unique sound. It was too difficult to choose only one track for the Coney Island Love project, so we limited it to two!
Check out the full mix CD here.

The Rootsman: The Rootsman has Experience in DUB! Check out his prolific career in making music at www.thirdeyemusic.co.uk This track, courtesy of Meteo Sounds was another discovery from the great Bucovina CD. Follow the branches & you'll find the roots again in Southern Italian gypsy folk music with the amazing singer Rosapaeda.
